Four cases were filed before the Regulatory Tribunal in 2022. Three decisions were issued during the year, two involving cases with the QFC Employment Standards Office, and one relating to the QFC Regulatory Authority.

In Sharq Insurance LLC v QFC Employment Standards Office [2022] QIC (RT) 3
The Regulatory Tribunal dealt with, inter alia, the issue of whether deductions made to an employee’s salary were lawful in light of the Covid-19 Pandemic, taking account of the contract and the QFC Employment Regulations. Prime Financial Solutions LLC v QFC Employment Standards Office [2022] QIC (A) 3
The Appellate Division of the Court (Lord Thomas, President, Justices Robertson and Mountfield QC) refused an application for costs made by the (partially successful) appellant company on the basis that the circumstances of the particular case militated against following the usual rule that a successful party should receive its costs. Nazim Omara v Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority [2022] QIC (RT) 1
Two sets of criminal proceedings were brought by the authorities in the State of Qatar against the appellant in November 2009 resulting in a stay of the regulatory proceedings against him (Justices Sirl William Blair, etc).
