Summary
The Qatar Financial Centre Civil and Commercial Court ruled on a case (CTFIC0033/2023) where Klaas Bouwman, a Dutch national, claimed unpaid salary from his employer, Kofler Group Middle East LLC. The court ordered the defendant to pay Bouwman QAR 4,349 and EUR 3,200, plus interest and costs. Bouwman's claim was based on non-payment for December 2022 and January 2023 during his illness. The court found Bouwman failed to comply with Article 38 of the QFC Employment Regulations, which mandates a medical certificate every 7 days. The claim for January 2023 was also not substantiated under Article 21 regarding readiness to work.
