Legal Clinic Guidelines

The Process

Applications will initially be submitted to the QICDRC for review. If the criteria are met, the QICDRC may refer the matter to a Panel Law Firm. The QICDRC is under no obligation to accept an individual for pro bono assistance under the Scheme, as outlined in the Terms and Conditions. (Hyperlinked)

Upon receiving a referral under the Scheme, Panel Law Firms shall provide an initial consultation of 30 minutes, followed by a brief letter confirming the advice provided during the consultation.

For further information, kindly refer to the Terms and Conditions along with the Frequently Asked Questions.

Eligibility

Prospective applicants must:

  1. Seek advice in relation to a civil or commercial matter.
  2. Possess a valid Qatar Identity Card in the case of an individual, or in the case of a company, must be a company registered in Qatar with at least one of the directors holding a QID (verified by the Panel Law Firms).
  3. Be unable to afford to pay privately for the assistance of a lawyer.

Next steps

If you fulfil these criteria, then you may apply to be accepted onto the Scheme by the QICDRC. If you are accepted, you will be directed to one of our Panel Law Firms for consultation. Prospective applicants are reminded that it is within the absolute discretion of the QICDRC as to whether to accept a person onto the Scheme.

By applying to be accepted onto the Scheme, an applicant is signing up to all the Terms and Conditions contained in the document below. Your attention is drawn to the following passage in paragraph 14(v):

“I will not hold liable in any way, whether in the law of contract, tort (including negligence), misrepresentation, restitution or otherwise in any jurisdiction, any of the Panel Law Firms, their employees and/or agents, and/or the QICDRC or the Scheme including their agents, employees and representatives, for the acts and/or omissions of any Panel Law Firm who gives me advice in consultation under this Scheme, or in the course of any representation I may have under this Scheme. I acknowledge that the QICDRC is not responsible in any way for the content or accuracy of the legal advice provided by the Panel Law Firm.”
