Summary

The Qatar Financial Centre Civil and Commercial Court's Appellate Division dismissed Meinhardt's appeal, upholding the First Instance Circuit's judgment that Waqar Zaman was entitled to QAR 612,000 for unpaid wages and benefits. Zaman was employed by Meinhardt companies and claimed unpaid salary, leave, airfare, and other expenses. Meinhardt's appeal challenged jurisdiction, the time-barred nature of the claim under Qatari Labour Law, and alleged waiver of the claim by Zaman. The court found no waiver occurred and ruled the claims were not time-barred as they were governed by QFC employment law. Meinhardt was ordered to pay Zaman's costs.
