Through its supervisory arbitrational jurisdiction under Law No 2 of 2017 issuing the Arbitration Law in Civil and Commercial Matters, parties can elect the QICDRC as the “Competent Court” of arbitration to perform various functions in relation to interim measures, enforcement of awards and appeals.

Summary
Amberberg Limited sought permission to appeal a judgment by the First Instance Circuit, which struck out its claims against two defendants. Previously, Amberberg was under a Litigation Restraint Order (LRO) requiring permission for any claims or applications. The court had also ordered Amberberg to pay security for costs, which it failed to do. The First Instance Circuit granted the respondents' application to strike out Amberberg's claim due to non-compliance with the security order. Amberberg's arguments against the judgment, including claims of denied access to justice, were rejected. The court found no grounds for appeal and deemed Amberberg's application an abuse of process.
